Jesus always seemed to teach the simplest and the most practical way. He was so non-technical or non-academic in his approach. He made it so a little child could get it.

When an issue came up, he brought it down to one truth- not three points or some outline or system. Just one thing.

My initial response to this passage was that I need to learn 'strategies' from Jesus for dealing with evil men like these religious leaders.
Then it hit me... sometimes I am these evil men. A more direct application for me is to not be one of these evil, hypocritical religious leaders. Here are some things I see these religious men doing here that I sometimes get caught up in:
-constantly questioning and never trying to understand
-doubting and not trusting in Jesus' authority
-not listening and learning when Jesus confronts my sin
-getting distracted by religion and forsaking genuine love
-trying to impress others
Lord, help me to better hear and follow you. I want to authentically love you more and trust your leading.
