Saul's conversion to God's will for his life sounds a lot like what happens to us when we decide to follow Christ. We go through a process of seeing and understanding the reality of our need and God's solution. God makes it obvious that we have a choice to make. When we follow His leading, we have our lives changed in radical and overt ways. Our friends notice we have changed, we act in new ways, and everything is forever different in our hearts and minds.
I remember a friend who challenged me to let him know if I was still a Christian in five years. He didn't believe I could stay as radically different as I almost immediately became. He was right....the changes in me were not ones I could have managed without the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit on the inside of me. Thanks be to God that 35 years later, I continue to be changed and am more convinced than ever that God is good and has a good plan for me and that I can trust Him completely.
