Right on K. This flood of stuff in December has so little to do with core realities...and it sucks the life out of us. Personally this year, I want to celebrate and give and love and live out truth. And all of it with great passion.

I think that word, passion, is most appropriate. Outside of a theological context most would describe passion as a strong (though sometimes violent) emotion. I've seen Jesus described as 'the lover of our souls,' but when people think about Jesus, they may not always envision such a passionate figure.

I say we take this notion of passion and explore it. Explore God's love for us, and understand this passion as the reason he sent Love himself, in the flesh, to dwell among us. Maybe as we sort through all the consumerism and materialism that so often invades Christmas, we can recognize and remind ourselves that Jesus is the answer to universal longings, the answer to the question of our own passions.
