<description>This is so interesting to me in verses 6-8 in NLT (I got to NLT by clicking Bible Gateway above and it took me right to Acts 1 where I just used "update" to switch translations)

6.So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”

7 He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Notice the question: "Right now Jesus are you going to get this Jewish thing going and fulfill OUR idea of YOUR kingdom?" This is the same question that often comes out of our prayers etc. "When are my expectations going to be met.....right now?"

Jesus' answer is clear - "I set the timeline and its not your kingdom- as a matter of fact, you are going to be the message carriers to ALL people- not just you Jews."

It must have either blown their minds or gone right over their heads.

How often do we think "I want my church this way for me and I want it now."</description>
