"But take heart! I have overcome the world" These words Jesus gave us help so much. No matter what you are up against in the world; whether it be from an internal or external source, Jesus has already overcome it. There is no question about how it will turn out. Jesus has your back!
I have to admit that I appreciate the disciples' concern with Jesus' timeline, though. What is a 'little while' and yet another 'little while'. I'm always asking that but can never know. It's really enough to remember that the outcome is certain. The timing is almost always a suprise!

I have been trying to imagine this morning what it would have felt like to have been there when these words were spoken. They are challenging, confusing, encouraging. The disciples were falling away, getting it, questioning, believing.
Where are you at today? Where is your heart?

Even with our historical perspective, it is hard to know exactly what Jesus is talking about at times. What it must have been like at the time! But, His last statement here, ″I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” motivates me to dig deeper and to invest the time to write His words on the walls of my heart. The world gives trouble...but Jesus is offering peace. It's good to know Him. It is good to want to know Him more.
