this is a few days late....but Ps. 91 hit me hard the other day with the phrase in verse 4..."His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." i can honestly say that God has proven Himself faithful to me. In so many ways, His faithful provision and evidence of care for me has protected me time and time again. He is, truly, my shield. It is why I can smile at the future as well as enjoy the moment. His faithfulness.....is my shield and rampart.

Two things really speak to me in this passage. As a nature lover, the first is the image of being protected under the Lord's wings. The second is that the Lord "will command His angels concerning [me] to guard [me] in all [my] ways" all because I trust in Him and love Him. Wow!

I like the idea of God being a shield and rampart to protect me. A good rampart is unpenetratable. The imagery here reminds me of the huge battle scene at Helm's Deep in the Lord of the Rings. The enemy wants to do anything it can to kill and destroy, but I'm protected deep inside by God's faithfulness.
