In so many ways, His faithful provision and evidence of care for me has protected me time and time again. He is, truly, my shield. It is why I can smile at the future as well as enjoy the moment. As a nature lover, the first is the image of being protected under the Lord's wings. The second is that the Lord "will command His angels concerning [me] to guard [me] in all [my] ways" all because I trust in Him and love Him. Wow! Two things really speak to me in this passage. A good rampart is unpenetratable. The imagery here reminds me of the huge battle scene at Helm's Deep in the Lord of the Rings. The enemy wants to do anything it can to kill and destroy, but I'm protected deep inside by God's faithfulness. I like the idea of God being a shield and rampart to protect me.
